The Kitchen: the Most Important Room in the House

I believe that the kitchen is the most important room in the house. It is where meals are created and consumed, and where countless conversations take place. The kitchen in my house, however, is only a source of frustration. I've bought various homewares for this part of the house, but the problem isn't what's in it - it's the shape of it. The L-shape eliminates the possibility of a kitchen table, and the lack of cupboards and counter space hinders large projects. The kitchen is definitely what I would change about my house. I would start by eliminating the attic stairs, replacing them with a pull-down ladder. To do this, I would have to hire a contractor. That would make the kitchen into a larger square. I would replace the dated linoleum with durable snap-down laminated hardwood. Then I would add cupboards and a countertop as well as a kitchen table. I would hire someone to replace all of the old cabinets with new ones. I would also replace the current appliances. This would make it a comfortable room to both cook and eat.
