French water pumps make fantastic water features in a garden pond.
These old French water pumps are often very decorative and are found in various colours and sizes. Often made of cast iron or copper, they usually have a pumping handle on one side. Today, these are pretty obsolete as working items, but can make extremely attractive water features.
French water pumps look great placed next to a garden pond, when fitted with a cheap modern electric pump to allow flowing water through - you are only limited by your imagination. Alternatively, these look lovely when placed over a half barrel planter or shabby chic container planted up with flowers or herbs.
Water pumps are particularly attractive when placed in a rustic setting in a pretty cottage garden, placed next to a lovely old stone wall, or on the terrace of a barn conversion. They really add a sense of French rustic country charm to any rural setting.
